Catherine Grannan

Mrs. Austin Grannan, 44, of Montgomery Died Sunday
Mrs. Catherine I. Grannan, 44 of Montgomery, wife of Austin Grannan,
died at 10:08 o'clock last night at the Daveiss County Hospital, where
she had been a patient for about 12 hours. Death of Mrs. Grannan was
due to two large abscesses of the abdomen, the attending physician
reported today. She had been suffering from abdominal pain for about
a week, and was brought to the hospital Sunday morning for observation.
About 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon an exploratory operation was performed,
revealing the two huge abscesses of the abdomen, with no hopes being
held for her recovery. Death came several hours laters. Mrs. Grannan
was born at Loogootee on Janury 24, 1887 and was a daughter of John
and Sarah (Riney) Greenwell. She married Austin Grannan on May 7, 1907,
and to this union six children were born, all of whom survive to mourn
there mother's passing. The deceased was well and favorably known in
and around Montgomery. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church
there, and of the Altar Society of the parish. Surviving are the husband
and the following children: Vincent who is at St. Heinrads and Adrian,
Ambrose, Mary Lucille, Cornelius and Louis at home. Brothers and sisters
surviving are: Mrs. Leo Grannan of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Walter Greenwell
of Barr Township, Clarence Greenwell of Danville, Illinois, Nilus Greenwell
of Garden City, Minnesota, John Greenwell of Barr Township, Mrs. Delphia
Gootee of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Bernadette Gough of Barr Township.
Funeral arrangements have not been made. Ed Keller to have charge of
the funeral.
