AGED RESIDENT of WASHINGTON TAKEN BY DEATH
Amanda GOBLE's Funeral Will
be Held Wednesday Mrs. Amanda GOBLE, 86, living on N. W. 21st Street
North of Maxwell Avenue, died Sunday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the
family home after an illness of two weeks of paralysis. She had been
in a semi-conscious condition for the past week. Born at Alfordsville
in Reeve Township on October 6, 1849, the deceased was a daughter of
Nicholas and Lavina (BURRIS) BAKER who were natives of Kentucky. She
married James F. GOBLE, a Civil War veteran who preceded her in death
47 years ago. The deceased was a member of the Alfordsville Christian
church, and the funeral services will be held there Wednesday morning
at 10:30 o'clock with Rev. W. H. NUTER officiating, and burial following
in the Christian Cemetery. James A. Gill & Sons will have charge
of the funeral. One of Mrs. GOBLE's last requests was that no flowers
be sent to the home or church and the family is abiding by this wish
of hers. Surviving are three children, Mrs. Adeline HEDRICK of Washington,
Nicholas S. GOBLE of Vincennes, R.R. 3 and George GOBLE who is constable
of Washington Township. Three other children preceded her in death. They
were Mrs. Nora KELSO, who died 21 years ago and was the mother of the
present Reeve Township trustee. Cora, who died as a small girl and Edith,
who died in infancy. Mrs. GOBLE was the last of 13 children in her family.
She also is survived by 21 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, seven
nieces and nephews. Mrs. GOBLE's husband was a lieutenant in Company
H., 134th Regiment Indiana Volunteer Infantry, serving from May 6, 1864
to September 2, 1864
