Benjamin Louis (Ben) Gibbs was born in Martin Co Indiana to George Euen and Sarah Ellen Gammon Gibbs. Ben's family moved to Washington Indiana when he was a small boy and that is where he lived most of his life. He had 2 brothers John and Edward and 4 sisters Nellie, Rose, Leona and Lula. Ben was married 3 times first to Fannie Tucker and they were blessed with 3 children Lillian, Homer, and Fred. After Fannie's death he married Dulcie Allegree-Smith and then Nina Ricks-Glover. Ben retired from B&O Railroad During his years of service for the railroad he was one of the many that helped out with the Blue Hole disaster of 1913. One of the many things Ben and Nina enjoyed was working on their small farm at their home at 2105 National highway were they grew vegetables and flowers that they were always willing to share with anyone that stopped by. They also had chickens and a goat. Family was important to Ben and Nina they loved to have family come to visit even stay over night since so many had moved out of town. His church family was also important, they were members of the United Brethern Church. After the death of Nina in 1964 Ben moved to California to live with his son Homer until his death. Ben is buried in Mt Olivet Memorial Park, Colma California.
