Norman Fitzgerald

Norman Otho Fitzgerald, 77, 1615 North St. died at Deaconess Hospital,
Evansville, at 8:32 p.m. Saturday.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Gill Chapel, with burial
in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday
and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Eagles will have
a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The American Legion and VFW
will accord full military honors at graveside.
He was born Nov. 19, 1915 in Daviess County to Lewis E. and Nancy O.
(Boyd) Fitzgerald. He married mary Ray on March 4, 1946, and she survives.
He was retired from NSWC Crane where he worked in a battery shop. He
served in World War II in the Army. From 1940 to 1945 he was a Prisoner
of War in North Africa and received a Purple Heart. He is a life member
of the VFW No. 3321 and the Disable American Veterans. he is also a member
of the American Legion, Eagles 414, Moose of Petersburg and the French
Club in Bicknell.
Also surviving are four daughters and four sons, Nancy Riester, Washington;
Mrs. Edward (Joyce) Cox, Casselberry, Fla.; Mrs. Patrick (Mary) Clauss,
Washington, and Mrs. Donald (Janice) Trayweek, Palmetto, Fla.; Norman
E. Fitzgerald, Washington; Anthony Ray Fitzgerald, California; John M.
Fitzgerald, Leesville, La. and Albert J. Fitzgerald, Washington; 22 grandchildren
and six great grandchildren.
Three sisters Mrs. Royce (Lillian) Gray, Washington; Mrs. Clarence (Barbara)
Carey, Washington and Mrs. Charles (Evelyn) Walker, Zephyrhills, Fla.,
and one brother, Donald Fitzgerald, Washington, also survive.
He was preceded in death by one son, Robert David, on sister and one
brother.
