William Ivan Fisher

William Ivan Fisher, 53 years old, Daviess County Recorder, died at 2:30AM today at his residence in Plainville following a heart attack. His death came as a shock to his many friends who respected and admired the capable, friendly, and cheerful man. Mr. Fisher was serving his second term as county recorder. He was first elected to the office in 1954 and again in 1958. He was born September 8, 1906 in Bogard township, the son of Harvey Fisher, living, and Eva (Cornelius) Fisher, deceased, and was educated in the Plainville schools. Mr. Fisher was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, Plainville F & AM Lodge No. 678, the Knights Templar of Washington, the Plainville Order of Eastern Star, and the County Recorders Association. He leaves his widow, Mercedes (Davis) Fisher, whom he married April 28, 1928, two children: Mrs. Fred (Barbara) Hanify, Chicago and Don Fisher, Clarksville, Ind., two granddaughters, his father, his stepmother, Alta (Myers) Fisher, who reared him and two brothers, Ermil and Max Fisher, both of Plainville. A sister, Mrs. Fawnas Norton, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 3PM Sunday in the Plainville EUB Church with Rev. Max Smith in charge, assisted by Rev. Alton Hawkins. Burial will be in the Plainville Cemetery. Friends may call at the V.L. Poindexter chapel from 7PM today until noon Sunday when the body will be taken to the church. The Eastern Star services will be held at 7PM Saturday.
