Walter J. Fields

Walter J. Fields, 81, Route 2, Troy Road, died at the Daviess County Hospital at 8: 25 p.m. Saturday. He had been ill since March of this year. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church with the Rev. Bernard Lutz officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ed Lee Mortuary after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. He was born September 21, 1908 in Daviess County to Louis G. and Portia Sloan Fields. His first marriage was to Frances Churchill. He married Ethelyn Peachee and she survives. He bought the White Steamer October 1, 1938 and sold it in 1973. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and was educated in Daviess County Schools. Surviving are his wife and two sons, W. James Fields, Newtown, Connecticut, Richard M. Fields, San Antonio, Texas, one stepson, Don Thurston, Indianapolis, four grandchildren, two step grandsons, two step great grandsons, and one sister, Lottie Davidson, Salt Lake City, Utah. One sister is deceased.
