Dorothy L. Essig died at 2:35 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2011 at Prairie Village Nursing and Rehabilitation. A resident of Washington, she was 83. She was born March 16, 1928, the daughter of Philip Fred and Leona (Smith) Schnarr. She was a graduate of Alfordsville High School. She married John Essig on May 23, 1950 and he preceded her in death on February 11, 2006. She had worked at the Daviess County Courthouse. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Lisa Essig of Milford, Ohio; two grandchildren; and one sister Ruth Kail of Washington. She is preceded in death by one sister, Bernice Gress and two brothers, Leland and Clyde Schnarr. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 29 at Gill Chapel, with Bro. Richard Smith, officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation is after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
