MARY J. ENNIS TAKEN BY DEATH AT RURAL HOME
Aged Resident of Washington Twp. Ill Short Time
Mrs. Mary Jane Ennis 84, widow of the late albert W. Ennis of the Troy road, died at 2:35 o'clock Monday afternoon at the family home four miles south of Washington.
Death of the aged woman was attributed to a brief serious illness of hardening of the arteries, she having become serious last Tuesday.
Born in Washington township on January 7, 1852, the deceased was a daughter of William ad Ann (Supplee) Samples, and she spent her entire life in this community. She married Mr. Ennis on June 13, 1872 and he has been dead for some time. Mrs. Ennis was a member of the First Methodist church of Washington.
Surviving Mrs. Ennis are six of 10 children born to the union, as follows: Mrs. Anna Mary Lewis of Washington township, William L. Ennis at home, Mrs. Martha Grace Allison of Washington township, Mrs. Clara may Lewis of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Ora Harbin and Mrs. Lucy Myrtle Gregory of Washington. There are no brothers or sisters.
Surviving also are 25 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ennis are to held Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Ike Allison, with Rev. J. Edw Murr officiating. Interment will be made in Old Union cemetery. James a Gill and Sons will have charge of the funeral.
The body of Mrs. Ennis was removed to the Allison home this afternoon to remain until the hour of the funeral.
