RESIDENT DIES IN PORTLAND
Mrs. Lydia E. Davis, 82, Being Returned For Burial.
Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. Lydia E. Davis, 82, formerly of Washington, at her home in Portland, Ore., death having occurred yesterday.
The body will be returned to Washington, arriving probably Monday, with funeral services to be announced later. Elwood Williams will have charge.
Mrs. Davis was the widow of John Henry Davis, and was born in Daviess county on January 9, 1857. She was a daughter of Wm and mary Matilda (Jones) Boyd, both natives. She was a member of Aikman's Creek church.
Surviving Mrs. Davis are three children, W. H. Davis of Veale township, A. E. Davis of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Vera Risley of Rickford, Ill. Thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive as well as the following half-sister - Mrs. E. E. Dayton of Veale, Mrs. Hiram Barber of Veale, Mrs. Eliza Garland of Washington and a half-brother, Mike White of Clay City.
Mr. Davis died in 1915 and Mrs. Davis went to Portland to make her home, about 20 years ago. She will be well remembered here.
Funeral services will be held at the Aikman Creek church Tuesday at 10 o'clock in the morning with interment in the adjoining cemetery.
The body will arrive at noon Monday and will remain at the Williams Funeral Home until the hour of the funeral where friends are invited to call and pay their respects.
