Autopsy To Learn Cause of Death
Mrs. A.J. Dant Dies Today At Family Home On Maple Street Mrs. Mary Dant, wife of A.J. Dant, former city councilman and proprietor of the soft drink establishment on northeast Third and Maple streets, died at 11:35 o'clock this morning at the family residence, 300 Maple street. She was forty-seven years old. Mrs. Dant's maiden name was Billings, she having been a daughter of Jesse Billings. Her husband, two children, Gaddis and Aimon, and seven brothers and sisters survive her. Mrs. Dant was a native of Daviess county and was extensively known throughout the city. She was a member of the Catholic church. Mrs. Dant's health had been declining for some time but she was not forced to take her bed until ten days ago. Since then she had grown worse gradually and she lost consciousness about 8 o'clock Friday morning, passing away in this condition. The attending physicians will hold an autopsy this afternoon to ascertain the cause of death. Funeral services will be held from St. Simon's church at 9 o'clock Monday morning. Burial will be in Bethany cemetery

Death of Mrs. A.J. Dant
Mrs. A.J. Dant, one of Washington's best known and respected women, died at 11:30 this morning at the family home at Maple and East Third streets. She had been in poor health for some three or four years, but the immediate cause of her death was inflammation of the bowels. Mrs. Dant's maiden name was Mary S. Billings. She was united in marriage to A.J. Dant, October 6, 1886, the ceremony having been performed by the late Father John W. Doyle. To this union two children, Aimon J. and Gaddis L. Dant were born. She was a member of St. Simon's congregation. Beside her husband and two children, Mrs. Dant leaves seven brothers and three sisters to mourn her death. They are John, Abraham, Morton, Louis, Frank and Charles Billings of this county, and George Billings of Richland county, Illinois; Mrs. James Meads, this county; Mrs. Jefferson Bates, Richland county, Ill., and Mrs. J.A. Kemper, of Owensboro, Ky. The funeral arrangements have as yet not been completed, but in all probability it will take place Monday morning. Services at St. Simon's church.
