Oral Collins

Oral H. Collins, 73, 416 S. E. Sixth Street, Washington, died at his home at 3:25 a.m. today. He had been in failing health several years and was seriously ill three days.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sugarland Memory Gardens with the Rev. Marvin Arvin officiating. Military graveside honors will be by the Washington American Legion and VFW.

There will be no visitation.

Poindexter-Hall-McClure Funeral Home of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

He was born July 27, 1921 in Martin County to Millard Dick and Zola Chattin Collins. He married Gloria Berry October 7, 1964 and she survives.

He was a Jasper Engine and Transmission employee several years retiring in 1983. He also operated D.X. and Pure Gas Stations and owned restaurants in Odon, Plainville and Loogootee. He was educated in Martin County Schools. He was an Army World War II veteran and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Surviving are his wife and one stepson and one stepdaughter, Richard Lee Tonucci, Ansonia, Connecticut, and Mrs. John (Judith Ann) Lauria, Santa Maria , California, one sister and two brothers, Iona Potts and Victor Collins, both of Washington, and Earl Collins, Shoals.

One stepson, Louis Peter Tonucci Jr., one sister and one brother, Blanche Arvin and Carl Collins, have died.
