Aretta Tucker Colbert

ARETTA COLBERT SUCCUMBS AFTER LENGTHY ILLNESS
Resident of Daviess County For Number of Years Passed Away Sunday.
Mrs. Aretta Tucker Colbert, 68 years old, died Sunday morning at 10:15 o'clock at her home south of Washington. Her death was due to a tumor from which she had been suffering since June, 1926. She had been seriously ill for about three weeks.
Born April 1, 188 in Washington county, this state, the deceased came to Daviess county early in life and spent the remainder of her years in this county. She was educated in the public schools of the county.
In 1881 she married Jesse Colbert, who died April 15, 1908 and to this union seven children were born, all of whom survive the mother.
Mrs. Colbert was a kind and loving mother, beloved by all who knew her. She leaves a host of friends and relatives to mourne her passing.
A member of the United Brethren church she lived a devout Christian life, was a regular attendant of church services and active in church work.
Funeral services are to be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock at Bethel church with interment following in the adjoining cemetery.
Children surviving Mrs. Colbert are: Mrs. Mildred Ritter of Boonville, Guy Colbert, Mrs. Amanda McDaniel, Mrs. Emily Colbert, Ray Dewey and George Colbert, all of this city.
Two brothers, James and Levi Tucker, a step-mother, Mrs. Susan Tucker of this city and the following Half-brothers and Half-sisters survive: Daniel and Weaver Tucker, Mrs. Ida Ennis and Mrs. Eva Humer. One step-sister, Mrs. P. A. Kelly of Washington also survives.
