Olive Chickedantz Dies At Hospital
Mrs. Olive Helen Chickedantz, 81 years old, 601 East VanTrees Street, died at the Daviess County Hospital at 4:45 a.m. today after a serious illness of one week. She had been in failing health for a year.
The daughter of Anderson and Elizabeth (White) Armes, she was born August 19, 1882 in Glendale and was educated in the Daviess County schools. Her husband, Charles H. Chickedantz, whom she married August 30, 1903, died November 1, 1960.
Mrs. Chickedantz was an active worker in the Westminster Presbyterian Church and was also a member of the Eastern Star, War Mothers, Grandmothers Club, B & O Veterans Auxiliary and the Sunset H. D. Club. A kindly and considerate individual, Mrs. Chickedantz had many devoted friends. She had a genuine interest in all the organizations in which she worked faithfully, and friends also knew her as an ardent sports fan.
Surviving are three children: Mrs. Glen (Marjorie) Huston, Harry B. Chickedantz and Carl Chickedantz, all of this city; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was the last of her family.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Gill Chapel with Rev. Fred Ingle in charge and burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. The casket will be closed at the start of the service. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Friday.
The O.E.S. service will be at 7 p.m. Friday, the Grandmothers Club will hold services at 4 p.m. Friday and the War Mothers service is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Friday
