L. L. CAMPBELL TAKEN BY DEATH
Loranzo L. Campbell, 79 retired car foreman of the B&O railroad shops
diedat his home at 2008 W. Walnut street at 1 o'clock this morning after
anillness of four weeks. Mr. Campbell had been in failing health for
severalyears.Deceased was born in Dubois county on Oct. 21, 1869 & came
to Daviess countywhen a young man. He was educated in the Dubois county
schools. He wasmarried Nellie Hofer on Aug. 10, 1899. Mr Campbell was
a member of theWestminster Presbyterian Church. He was a Veteran of the
Spanish AmericanWar, serving as a First Sergeant Company D 159th Regiment
from April 26,1898 until November 23rd of that year. He was stationed
at Camp Mount,Indiana. His parents were Parks & Elizabeth (Corn) Campbell.Survivors
are his widow & the following children: Ralph H.; city, MrsCatherine
Sargent Michigan City; Mrs. Irma Wood Veale Township; Rev LorenCampbell
Indianapolis; Bruce Campbell LaGuno Beach Fla.; a son died ininfancy.
There are 14 grand children & three brothers & two sisters Charles & Claud
Campbell city. Porter Campbell, Jasonville, Ind. Miss. Ora Campbell & Mrs.
Maude Gilley, city.Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Monday
afternoon at the Gillchapel with Rev. N. Fredick in charge. Burial will
be in Oak Grove. Friendsmay call at Gill's. The American Legion will
hold graveside services.
