EVA MAE BATCHELOR
Eva Mae Batchelor, 66, 214 Front St., died at Good Samaritan Hospital
at 12:20 p.m. Thursday following an illness lasting since 1975. She
was seriously ill for one week.
She was born July 28, 1916 in Loogootee to Leo P. and Mary J. (McAtee)
McDermott. She married Bernard Batchelor on June 15, 1934, and he survives.
Mrs. Batchelor was employed by McCord Corp. for 32 years and held memberships
in St. Mary's Church, Women of the Moose, Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles,
Ladies Auxiliary of Knights of St. John and Daughters of Isabella.
Surviving are two sons, Richard (Dick) L. Batchelor of Plainfield and
Robert C. Batchelor of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Silas (Beverly)
Spaulding of Jasper; five sisters, Mrs. Regina F. Wikle of Elnora, Mrs.
Esther L. Tutts and Mrs. Mary E. Aldridge, both of Washington, Mrs. Catherine
Birnel of Tacoma, Wash. and Mrs. Betty Clymer of Vincennes; two brothers
Joseph McDermott of Indianapolis and Glen McDermott of Richmond; and
eight grandchildren.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Church with burial
in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at Ed Lee Mortuary after 7 p.m.
Saturday and after 9 a.m. Sunday.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles will hold memorial services at 7:30
p.m. Saturday. Members of St. Mary's Parish and friends will pray a rosary
at 7:30 p.m. Sunday after which the Daughters of Isabella and the Ladies
Auxiliary to Knights of St. John's will hold memorial services. Women
of the Moose will have memorial services at 7 p.m. sunday.
