This cemetery was reported to us in December 1997 by Joanne Longest, a Tuttle descendant. It is on Memphis-Blue Lick Road, northwest of the Bowery Cemetery. There were once about 10 stones but now there remain only 3. A 60-house subdivision is going in near Tuttle Cemetery.
The three remaining stones include two headstone and a small footstone. They are reported to read:
. . . . TUTTLE Soloman b. 1795 d. 1858
TUTTLE Nancy Holdridge b. 1797 d. 1884
Footstone: "S. T."There are no visible stones here for the following individuals, but they are believed to also be buried here:
TUTTLE Enos, Revolutionary b. 1762 d. 1843 veteran
TUTTLE Candace Hotchkiss b. 1763 d. 1838 (Candace's stone has disappeared since 1950)
Several other gravestones are missing.
Several trees are down in
the area of this small cemetery and one grave looks as though something
(presumably an animal) has dug into it. Joanne Longest, a Tuttle descendant,
is willing to help pay for a fence around the property and wonders if we
can help clean it up.
I presently have no further information on this cemetery. Further information may be available from:
