McCoy Branham, wife of Wilson Branham, parents unknown:
Obituary from the National Democrat, Clark
Co., IN, April19,1895:
"Memphis, April 18. - In last Sellersburg correspondence
it was stated that Mrs. Emmeline Braham, who died at the residence
of her daughter, Mrs. John McClara, near Slate Cut, was the widow of Westley
Braham. this was erroneous. She was the widow of Wilson Branham, who died
here in 1888, and to whom she was married in 1847. Eight children were
the fruit of this union, of whom five survive, viz: Mrs. John McClara,
Mrs. Jane Culp, Mrs. Hamilton Justice, Mrs. James McClara, and Miss Martha
Branham. The deceased lady was a native of Lawrence County, Ind, and was
a life long member of the Christian Church."

"Friday night last. Wilson Branham, a
pioneer of Union township, died at his residence here. Though ill for several
weeks, having suffered an attack of pneumonia, he seemed to be making favorable
progress towards recovery, when a bursting blood vessel caused hemorrhage
of the brain and hence paralysis, ending in death. He was speechless for
several hours previous to dissolution. The funeral took place Sunday morning
from Ebenezer church and was largely attended, Rev. G. W. Green preaching
the sermon. Mr. Branham was a native of Tennessee, where he was born Feb.
9, 1821. He came to this State when only nine years of age. He had been
for many years a member of the Christian church and was much respected
by all who knew him."

daughter of James McClara:
Obituary, Jeffersonville National Democrat, 30
Jan 1895, page 4, column 7:
We also chronicle the death of the little daughter
of Mr. James McClara, who was buried at the same burying ground on Wednesday
last. Mr. McClara has been very unfortunate, as this is the second child
he has lost in but a short time. One was killed on the J. M. & I. railroad
and this last one was sick but a short time.
John
McClara, husband of Mary Elizabeth Branham McClara:
Jim
VanDerMark reports:
"The John McClara listed in your index is my
great great grandfather. I have been to Ebenezer (once) and took a picture
of his tombstone. It is a double stone and also has his 3rd wife Mary Elizabeth
Branham McClara on it. (I have a picture somewhere.)
"Mary Elizabeth was the daughter of the Wilson
and Emily Branham (see their obituaries above). It took me a while to find
a death record on Mary Elizabeth, because she actually died at the home
of her son in Champaign Co., IL. I have a copy of her death certificate
filed January 21, 1931, # 01000009 that states she was buried in "Ebenezer
cemetery, Henryville, Clark Co., IN" on Jan 22, 1931.
Mary Elizabeth was born 28 May 1848 in IN and
died 18 Jan 1931 in Champaign Co., IL
John McClara was born 22 Dec 1827 in Adams Co.,
MS and died 31 Dec 1903 in Clark Co., IN. He was a veteran of the Civil
War having enlisted on the 6th of Sep 1862 as a private in Company E, in
the 17th Regiment of the Veteran Reserve Corp. He was honorably discharged
on the 11th of Jan 1865. This information is from his application for pension,
#159400.

residence south of town, interment Saturday at Ebenezer, Elder W. C. Coombs
conducting the funeral services. (Jesse was the son of John and Mary Elizabeth
Branham McClara)
Anderson
Meeks:
Obituary, Jeffersonville National Democrat, 30
Jan 1895, page 4, column 7:
We attended the funeral of Old Uncle Anderson
Meeks, at the Ebenezer Cemetery on Tuesday last. Mr. Meeks was an old pioneer,
being in his ninety-sixth year. No one who knew him, can but regret his
death. Many a pleasant hour has your correspondent spent listening to reminiscences
of Mr. Meek's past life. He was in the recruiting service of the war of
1812, and could vividly portray many startling adventures of that period.
Mr. Meeks at one time was in very affluent circumstances, but being unfortunate,
he was but in poor circumstances at the time of his death. He was a pleasant,
agreeable, and a whole-souled old gentleman, and the community in which
he resided will long miss the old and familiar face of Uncle Anderson.
