The Columbus Republican Columbus, Indiana Thursday, May 14, 1896 Page 8 Obituary The home of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Wagner was left disconsolate on Wednesday of last week by the death of their little son, Paul. so brief had been his stay among us, yet loth we were to relinquish our claim upon him. The earthquake of sorrow has shattered the home that held him, yet we know he takes no further part in this battle of life. "There is a reaper whose name is death, And with his sickle keen He reaps the bearded grain at a breath And the flowers that grow between." Butt why was this flower taken away That to us was in kindness given. And what did our sweet baby say As he wandered into heaven? Did the blaze of golden glory Dazzle and frighten Paul? Did he anxiously look for mother's smile When he answered the Father's call? Ah, no, for the Savior opened his arms And folded our darling in; Henceforth he is saved from earth's cold harms, Saved from a world of sin.
