The Columbus Republica Columbus, Indiana Thursday, June 30, 1898 Page 4 Obituary Shelomith Davis Vickery was born May 26, 1820. She joined the U.B. church at Newbern, Ind., when but eleven years old and had lived a consistant christain life ever since. She was untied in marriage with Alfred Vickery on the 1st day of Nov., 1836. To them were born nine children, four sons and five daughters of which number two sons and two daughters have gone on before. She had been an invalid for a number of years but during all of her sicknes and suffering she never was known to murmer or complain, but she at all timews expressed a willingness and a desire to go and be at rest. She died at the home of her son-in-law, B.F. Robertson, in Hartsville, Ind., June 23, 1898, aged seventy-eight years and twenty-seven days. She leaves five children, nineteen granchildren and fifteen great-grand-children and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn their loss. The funeral was preached in the U.B. church, after which the remains were taken to the cemetery at Newbern and buried by the side of her husband. Hugh Montgomery.
