John W. Vaughn, 70 years old, died of paralysis after three days illness at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon at St. Anthony's hospital. Mr. Vaughn was a pioneer resident of Terre Haute, having conducted a poultry business at First Street and the Prairieton road for many years. He is survived by one son, James W. Vaughn, his wife and one son having preceded him in death, the former five years and the latter eighteen months. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon from his son's residence at 1634 South Seventh Street. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery.

John W Vaughn was married to Permelia Ray on 22 Dec 1861 in Bartholomew county, IN-- They had 2 sons, Alonzo Vaughn 1869-1912 and James W Vaughn(b. Sept 1870) married to Minnie McGinnis
