Columbus Republic 30 Jan 2008 Gerald E. Sullivan Lucas Way Gerald E. Sullivan, 76, of Lucas Way died at 9:21 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Columbus Regional Hospital emergency room. Mr. Sullivan was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He worked in the maintenance department at Golden Foundry more than 30 years. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the Eagles Lodge, enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid Indianapolis Colts and Indiana University basketball fan. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Ron Pollard officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday. Burial will be at Azalia Methodist Cemetery and military graveside rites will be conducted by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard. Born in Columbus Dec. 4, 1931, Mr. Sullivan was the son of Charles and Ruth Rodman Sullivan. He married Nellie M. Brown April 20, 1968, in Edinburgh. Survivors include his wife; children, Tony (Laura) Sullivan, Sonya (Jim) Stretshberry and Robert (Linda) Sullivan, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Aaron, Sarah and Dylan Sullivan, Ashley (Chuck) Davis, J.T. Eisenmenger and Cheyanna Heid; a great-granddaughter, Abigail Sullivan; sisters, Mary Jane (Delmos) Gates of Columbus and Shirley Charrett of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
