The Evening Republican Columbus, Indiana September 30, 1903 SPENT ONE-HALF CENTURY In the County Poor Farm, Did Andrew Skates, Who Died Yesterday Afternoon. Andrew Skates died at the County Poor Farm yesterday after spending a half century there. He was thought to be over ninety years old but no one knows his exact age. Mr. Skates was one of the first inmates the County Poor Farm ever had and long before the present Farm was built he lived in the first building erected for the care of the poor. The deceased has no relatives and has been alone in the world for several years.
