Columbus Republic 13 Apr 2008 Joseph A. Ostrander  Columbus Joseph A. Ostrander, 81, of Columbus, Ind. died at 5:48 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Mr. Ostrander was former co-owner of Acme Electric Company from 1965 to 1994. He was a very active member of Asbury United Methodist Church, having held several offices over the years, and also was a member of Sertoma Club, Toastmasters Club and Homebuilders Association. He was an active volunteer for Hospice, a CASA child advocate, a volunteer at Eastside Community Center and Love Chapel and was a Book Buddy. Mr. Ostrander was a graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Asbury United Methodist Church with Pastor Al Styron officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street and from 10:00 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the church. Interment will be at Asbury United Methodist Church Columbarium. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana. Mr. Ostrander was born in Panora, Iowa, the son of Benjamin and Ina J. Christianson Ostrander. He married Barbara A. Manning June 15, 1948, in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Survivors include his wife, of Columbus; sons, Tim (Gwynn) and Lee (Alice) Ostrander, both of Columbus; a daughter, Andrea (Craig Bouse) Ostrander of Indianapolis; a sister, Alva Mathre of Oklahoma City, Okla.; grandchildren, Brooke (Travis) Mouser, Brad and Morgan Ostrander and Amanda (Justin) Williams, all of Columbus; and great-grandchildren, Nick and James Williams, both of Columbus. Mr. Ostrander was preceded in death by his parents. Columbus Republic 16 Apr 2008 Service Joseph A. Ostrander The funeral for Joseph A. Ostrander, 81, of Columbus was conducted Tuesday at Asbury United Methodist Church with Dr. Al Stryon officiating. Paul Johnson read scripture and gave prayer, and Edward Bruenjes was organist. Family comments were given by Mr. Ostrander's son, Tim Ostrander, and granddaughter, Morgan Ostrander. Cremation followed the service. Inurnment will be at Asbury United Methodist Church Columbarium. Mr. Ostrander died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
