The Columbus Republican Columbus, Indiana Thursday, August 22, 1907 Page 3 JOHN A. MILLER IS DEAD AT HIS HOME Was Prominent Republican and Mason-Had Been Resident of County Since Before the War. John Ambrose Miller died at his home in Hope August 14, about two o'clock. He had been sick for the past two years and had been unable to walk for the past eighteen months. Mr. Miller was born in Salem, North Carolina, severty-two years ago and came to Hope in 1859, where he lived the rest of his life. He was a carpenter and worked at his trade until tow years ago when he was taken ill. He was a member of the Thirty-first Indiana Volunteer Infantry, Company I, in the Civil War and was a prominent member of the Masonic fraternity. He was a life long repulican but never held public office except that of trustee of Hawcreek township. Mr. Miller is survived by two children, Herma Miller, postmaster of HOpe and MRs. J.W.D. Aspy, of Hope. Funeral services over the remains of the late John Ambrose Miller were heal from the residence in Hope at 1:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon and the remains were laid to rest in the Moravian cemetery in Hope.
