The Republic Columbus, Indiana September 21, 1904 Wednesday Page 8 DEATH OF HENRY MILLER Oldest Colored Man in the City Died This Morning-Was a Slave in War Time. Henry Miller, probably the oldest colored man in the city, died at five o'clock this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Matilda LaRue. Mr. Miller was eighty year old and had made his home here for the past three years. He formerly lived in Nelson county, Ky., where nearly all of his eighty years was spent. He was a slave in the old days, and could tell many stories of the times before the war. He leaves three children, John Miller, Howard Miller and Mrs. Matilda LaRue. The funeral will be held from the Second Baptist church Thursday afternoon at two o'clock. Burial in the City Cemetery.
