The Columbus Repulican Columbus, Indiana Thursday, June 9, 1898 Page 8 THE FUNERAL OF DR. McLEOD. Took Place Last Tuesday From the Baptist Church-Was Largely Attended. The funeral of Dr. A.J. McLeod occurred last Tuesday at the Baptist church at 10 o'clock. It was largely attended. The church and the pulpit were appropriately draped with flowers and the significant memorial black. At 10 o'clock the funeral cortege arrived at the church. The Rev. Fuller Swift delivered a very impressive sermon, which was listened to by a sorrowful and attentive audience. After the funeral services at the church the procession moved to Garland Brook cemetery. The Masonic fraternity, of which Dr. McLeod was an honored member, attended the funeral in a body and conducted the impressive ritualistic ceremonies at the grave. The "Denver Club" composed of Knights Templar who attended the Triennial Conclave of Denver in 1892, formed the escort. The following physicians acted as pall bearers: Drs. Norton, Cosby, Banker, Hawley, MacCoy, Roland, Arwine and Butler. Among those who came to attend the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. A. Brewer, of New Albany; Mrs. Ollie Smart, of Chillicothe, Ohio; Mrs. J.N. Brewer and Miss Adelaid Miller, of Seymour; Mrs. Edward Donnell, of Greensburg; Mr. and Mrs. James Dye, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dye, John Dye and Grandpa Dye, of Boone county; Mrs. Margaret Oak and Mrs. Martha Wells, of Pittsboro; Mrs. Nan Brumfield, of Hendricks county, ad Mrs. Lelia Coleman, of Indianapolis.
