The Columbus Republican Columbus, Indiana Thursday, January 10, 1901 Page 2 In Memory of Ruth McBride Inexpressibly sad is the death of Ruth, the bright little three-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel McBride, which occurred at their home on east Fifth street, Thursday noon of that dreaded disease, diphtheria. She was taken ill Saturday with what seemed to be a cold, but the disease developed with remarkable rapidity, refusing the constant skill of physicians and nurses, and assuming a fatal form in the beginning. Her little life was like a ray of sunshine gladdening the church, the Sunday school, the community, the neighborhood and family. She seemed to bring a brightness, a happiness, exceptionally sweet and entertaining for one so young. God in his wisdom loaned this beautiful little blossom, which daintily shed the perfume of her sweet presence and returned he to Himself for a purpose beyond our understanding. The little flower laden casket told the story of love and sympathy denied the friends who in tender consideration share the burden of grief with the bereaved family. The funeral took place at 11 o'clock Friday at the home under quarantine regulations. The little form was laid to rest in a pure white vault at the city cemetery.
