The Columbus Republican Thursday, October 12, 1899 Page 6 In Memory The following obituary was read at the funeral of Mr. Lester Huffer, a most exemplary young man: Lester Huffer, son of Josephus and Lena Huffer, was born in Clifty township, Bartholomew county, Ind., April 7th, 1870, and died Sept. 30, 1899, aged 29 years, 5 months and 33 days. He leaves a father, mother, six brothers, three sisters, and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn their loss. He was an esteemed citizen, dutiful son, an effectionate brother, kind neighbor, and loving christian. When about 14 years of age he united with the M.E. church at Newbern. Many present will remember the time when he was blessedly saved. During a meeting held at Hartsville, Ind., he was marvelously sanctified. His was truly "a life hid with Christ in God." Of him, in the language of the Psalmist, it may be said, "Mark the perfect man and behold the upright for the end of that man is peace." Those who were present in his sick room on the last night he spent with us will never forget his last testimony for Jesus. Calling his loved ones, one by one, he gave them his last, loving and tender counsel, bidding them "meet me in heaven." Bro. Lester kept prayed up. To his mother he said, "I am so glad I am ready." On Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock our brother "slipped off over to glory." Let us emulated the Christliness of his life, then we shall join him in ascribing all praise to Him who loved us and gavve Himself for us." "Some sweet morn we'll see His face And shall be satisfied. Some sweet day in His embrace, We shall evermore abide."
