Obituary

Mrs. Rhoda B. Horton died at Walesboro on the 4th inst., aged 76 years. She was a lady remarkable for her amiable disposition and kindness to the sick or oppressed, and was loved by all with whom she came in contact. She was born January 28, 1804, in Grayson county, Kentucky, and removed to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1816, where she remained until she was twenty-seven years of age. She was married to W.D. Horton in 1825 and came to Bartholomew county in 1831, where she has resided until her death. The news of the death of "Grandma Horton" brought a pang to many hearts that knew her from her childhood. She has gone to her rest after a long and useful life, leaving many mourning friends, the brightest coronet the departed soul can wear.
