The Republic Columbus, Indiana Monday, January 8, 1906 Page 8 Funeral services over the remains of the late Mrs. John C. Hilger were conducted by Rev. Wambsganss from the residence on Washington street and also from the German Lutheran church Sunday afternoon. It was by far the largest funeral ever before held from the German Lutheran church of this city. The casket was opened in the church and forty minutes were required for those who desired to gaze for the last time on the face of the beloved dead to pass around the casket, so large was the crowd in attendance at the services. The remains were laid to rest in the City cemetery.
