The Republic Columbus, Indiana Wednesday, July 13, 1881 Page 2 Obituary Leander Augustus Hege, son of Christian Hege, was born in Davidson county, North Carolina, on the 12th day of February, 1829. He died June 26th, 1881. In early infancy he was dedicated to the Lord in the sacrament of holy baptism. Emigrated to Indiana in the fall of 1848. On April 9th, 1850, he was United with Amelia F. Woehler in the bonds of holy matrimony, which union was blessed with ten children, four sons and one daughter preceded him into eternity. In the spring of 1852 he was received into communicant membership of the Enon church by the rite of confirmation, and later had his membership transferred to the Moravian church at Hope, Ind., of which he has been a faithful member for a number of years, and at the time of his death being a member of its board of trustees. We, as a church, feel greatly pained at his departure, while we yet rejoice in his entering into the church triumphant, for which he expressed a sincere hope in reconciliation with his God. He was made a Mason in Hope Lodge, No. 150, at Hope, Ind., the 22d day of January, 1856. He was buried by the Masonic Fraternity on the 28ith day of June, 1881. His funeral was largely attended.
