The Columbus Republican Columbus, Indiana Thursday, November 9, 1899 Page 7 Was Will Graham By All Who Knew Him -A Large Funeral The funeral of Will G. Graham took place from the Presbyterian church at 2 o'clock p.m. Saturday, conducted by Rev. F.C. Hood. The pall bearers were Fred Donner, John Scott, Charles Dehmer, John Bonham, Walter Conn, H.M. The local G.A.R. post sent a number of its members to the bereaved family that morning and paid tribute to the deceased young man. Prof. A.H. Graham, father of Will B., has been for years superintendent of the Soldiers and Sailors Orphans Home at Knightstown and is well known throughout the middle west as the soldier's friend. Prof. Graham was for many years superintendent of the public schools in this city and by his great, good-heartedness won the love and respect of every school boy and girl in the city. The school children, many of them now grown men and women, were among the number of mourners at the funeral of the kind professor's son. Prof. Graham's comrades in the war of '61 to '63 were also mourners. The friends of Mrs. Graham and her relatives were there. The friends of Will while he was a boy in Columbus were among the number, and in fact the death of Will G. Graham has brought sorrow to almost every circle in the city and has elicited sympathy from all classes, State Commander Dunlap of the G.A.R. and Adjutant Gen. Smock wrote inquiring the time of the funeral and they intended to attend but was received too late and they consequently could no get here. Will G. Graham had taken high rank as a musician but he held a place in the hearts of all who knew him, where ambition is checkmated and a place where naught is considered but the man incarnate. If love is the all of a man's existence, then Will G. Graham may be said to have received his full share.
