The Republic Columbus, Indiana Saturday, February 3, 1906 Page 1 Jacob C. Boyd Dead. Jacob C. Boyd, aged sixty-five years, died of paralysis at his home in Clifford at 3:30 o'clock Friday afternoon. The deceased suffered a stroke of paralysis last May, from which he never rallied. He leaves a wife and five children, as follows: Charles, Norton, James, Edgar and Dechel Boyd. He is also survived by three sisters as follows: Mrs. Joseph Thayer and Mrs. Sarah Pancake, of Clifford, and Mrs. A. J. Banker, of this city. Jacob C. Boyd was born in Indianapolis on Nov. 18, 1840. He was a sergeant in Company H. of the Fifty-third regiment in the Indiana volunteers in the war of the rebellion and served under Capt. John Garrett throughout the war. He was a brave and loyal soldier, a devoted husband and father, a staunch friend and neighbor and an upright Christian gentleman who commanded the highest respect and esteem among a large circle of friends and acquaintances. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Frank Collier from the Clifford M. E. church at 10 o'clock Sunday morning and the remains will be laid to rest in the Flatrock cemetery.
