ALICE
YODER, BRUCE HIRSCHY WED ON SUNDAY
Young
Couple Exchange Vows in Church Service at 2 P.M.
At two o'clock Sunday afternoon, July 8, the Evangelical Mennonite church
west of Berne was the scene of a pretty early summer wedding in which Miss
Alice Faye Yoder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chauncy Yoder, northwest of Berne,
and Bruce D. Hirschy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Hirschy of Decatur, Rt. 6,
pledged their vows. Rev. Milo Nussbaum, pastor at Union Chapel, Van
Buren, brother-in-law of the bride, officiated in the double ring
ceremony. The bride was given away by her father.
The marriage altar had a background of palms, ferns, two baskets of mixed
flowers, and two seven-branched candelabra.
Preceding the marriage Miss Fannie Margaret Habegger played several
wedding selections on the piano, and Mrs. Don Hirschy as soloist sang "I
Promise You." Miss Marjorie Yoder joined her in the duet numbers,
"I Love You Truly" and "To My Bride." Miss Habegger
played the traditional wedding marches and during the ceremony she played
softly "Always."
The bride's gown of white rayon embossed marquisette was fashioned with a
high neckline, the yoke being joined to the bodice in scallop effect. The
long sleeves featured points over the hands, and tiny buttons were used in the
back. The full skirt ended in a short train. The veil of net, edged
with lace, fell from a tiara of seed pearls and rhinestones. The bridal
bouquet was of white roses centered with a corsage of pink roses.
Miss Marjorie Yoder was her sister's maid of honor and only
attendant. Her gown of orchid marquisette was styled identical to that of
the bride with the exception that the sleeves were short and the skirt was of
floor length. She carried yellow roses.
Vaughn Mattax served the groom as best man, and the ushers were Kenneth
Yoder, Don and Dale Hirschy, brothers of the bride and groom. The
bridegroom and his attendant wore dark blue suits and white carnation
boutonnieres.
The mother of the bride wore a navy print dress with white accessories
and a pink carnation corsage. The groom's mother wore aqua and white and
her corsage was also of pink carnations.
A reception was held in the church basement following the wedding.
Mrs. William Thompson and Mrs. Fannie Amstutz were the head waitresses assisted
by Ruby Alice Moser and Anna Ruth Inniger. The cake was cut by Mrs. Milo
Nussbaum, sister of the bride and the punch was served by Miss Darlene Yoder,
another sister. The four-tiered wedding cake was (cut off)
