Ivan and Audrey Bleeke Steury
of Flanagan, Illinois, are the parents of a baby boy, Stanley Wayne, born
Wednesday, January 31, in the hospital at Pontiac, Illinois. The child, a
grandson of Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Steury of this
community, weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces. :Mr. and
Mrs. Steury are employed at the Salem Children's Home
at Flanagan.
Ralph and Erlene Steury
Hawkins of Decatur are the parents of a baby girl, Pamela Sue, weighing 9
pounds, 1 ounce, born early Thursday at the Adams County Memorial
hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Steury of north of
Berne and Mr. and Mrs. Emory Hawkins of Decatur are the grandparents.
David Howard is the name of a son born to Dr. Howard and Gyneth Schindler Luginbill at
South Bend, Wednesday evening. This is their first child. The
grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Luginbill and
Mr. and Mrs. Vilas A. Schindler. For the latter couple, this baby is
their second grandchild and first grand- (cut off)
Announcement is made of the birth of a daughter, Tania Marie, to Elmer
and Evelyn Graber Rich of Buffalo, N.Y. The child was born on January 16
and is a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Graber northwest of Berne.

OF REV. N. J. SCHMUCKER DIES
Funeral
Services Sunday In Kansas For Native Of This Area
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Sterling, Kansas, for Mrs.
Valentine Farney, 82, sister of Rev. N. J. Schmucker of Berne. Mrs. Farney
was the former Katie Schmucker and a native of this
community. She was born near Berne and was the daughter of Daniel and
Susan Egly Schmucker.
Mrs. Farney had been ailing for some
time. She moved away from this community in 1880 and the family had
resided in Kansas since. Her husband is deceased but she is survived by
eight children, four brothers, a full sister and several half-sisters.

WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
Rev. and Mrs. C. N. Stucky residing on West
Water street observed their 59th wedding anniversary
at their home yesterday with members of their family participating in a
carry-in dinner at noon and a family fellowship.
The following participated: Mr. and Mrs. Peter Stucky of Flanagan, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Dubach
and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Sommer and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Menno Stucky and son Billie, Jacob E. Sprunger, Mr. and Mrs. William Habegger
and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Sprunger and
family, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Neuenschwander and
family and Christina Stucky.

DANIEL
LENGACHER DIES IN HOSPITAL
Daniel Lengacher, 84, of Allen county, died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Lutheran Hospital
in Fort Wayne where he was admitted last Friday after suffering a broken
leg. Pneumonia developed and caused his death. He lived near Harlan
for 60 years. The funeral was held at the residence today, with burial in
the Amish cemetery near Grabill. Mr. Lengacher was a brother to the late Mrs. Dan Mazelin who spent most of her life in this community.
